30 Great Colleges for ESFP Personality Types

DegreeMatch.org - 2015 Awards - Best ESFP MatchDo you love the spotlight? Are you a born entertainer? This ranking highlights 30 colleges that, in our estimation, provide the kind of environment that will strongly suit the ESFP personality type: The Entertainer.

About MBTI

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator Test (MBTI) is one of the most commonly administered personality tests currently available. The findings of this test are used for a variety of things including psychological evaluations, potential employee screenings, background checks and a variety of others. The MBTI is a personality inventory created out of the theories set forth by well-known psychologist Carl Jung. According to Jung’s teachings, there are several nuances to behavior that underlie the way that people think, act and perceive the world. The MBTI uses a series of questions to determine your tendencies in four unique areas of measurement. These include:

  1. Favorite world: Do you favor the outer world or on your own inner world? This is called Extraversion (E) or Introversion (I).
  2. Information: Do you prefer the basic information you take in or do you prefer to interpret and add meaning? This is called Sensing (S) or Intuition (N).
  3. Decisions: When making decisions, do you look first at logic and consistency or at the people and special circumstances? This is called Thinking (T) or Feeling (F).
  4. Structure: When encountering the outside world, do you prefer to have decisions made or stay open to new information and options? This is called Judging (J) or Perceiving (P).

These four measures then determine your Personality Type, which is expressed as a code with four letters. There are 16 personality types that make up the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator “type table,” each with it’s very unique set of characteristics, preferences and strengths. There are four groupings of personality types labeled Analysts, Diplomats, Sentinels and Explorers.

ESFP Personality Types

The ESFP Personality is referred to as “the Entertainer” and considered an Explorer type personality. These are a group of people who love the spotlight and are a born entertainer. They are witty, fashionable, have a strong aesthetic sense and are very sensitive to other people’s emotions. Some of their best attributes include character traits such as being bold, practical, observant, having excellent people skills and an innate ability to mirror a situation with appropriate emotion and behavior. They are people who may neglect duties, are poor planners, can be seen as unfocused and will avoid conflict even if it means saying whatever is necessary to get out of a heated situation. Some of the most ideal careers for ESFP learners are acting, fashion design, event planning, sales representative, tour guide, EMT, nursing, interior decorating and the hospitality field. Typically the ESFP career is that of a leader, and not a subordinate.
